Man’s Intelligence “The
good, for some people, is what is useful. They therefore give this name to
wealth, to a horse, to wine, to a foot-wear. Their idea of good is so
depreciated that they reduce it to the level of the most common objects”.
(Seneca, Letters to Lucilius) Men, and in particular political men, are not sparing in promises. Our first rule of cosmic survival thanks to non-violence looks
reasonable and even commonplace as far as relations with ET are concerned.
Almost everybody would agree with it and we could anyway swear to observe it.
As a matter of fact, we have so far received no complaint from
extraterrestrials on our behaviour toward them, and as far as we know, we
have no matter in dispute with them. We could not anyway affront such
advanced beings, and a peaceful attitude would not be a true choice for
mankind. Face to their assumed force and intelligence, simple survival would
lead us to behave so. But if our non-violence is only destined to the strongest beings of
this Universe, could we still name it so? Does not it mean that we want to
keep the choice of violence for the weakest? The strongest would then be
beyond the law? Non-violence can’t be selective! It should be likewise used in the
cohabitation with our fellow-men on Earth too. Most of our problems on this planet are due to a lack of respect
toward the weakest of our kind. Selfishness is in fact a lack of respect and
a first demonstration of violence in mankind. It is indeed the very root of all forms of violence. By their sole capability of
undertaking interstellar travels, ET observers would not have to prove their
force or their intelligence to us. But our respective positions are not
balanced in such eventual cosmic relations. Before they agree to establish contacts,
we could have to prove them our intelligence and goodwill. A test of the kind described in the following dialogue could be
expected to be passed by mankind before: - The stronger
(ET) to the weaker (man): My goodwill toward you is already proved since I
could have destroyed your species if it was not so. But as the weaker, what
do you propose to do to prove your real goodwill and respect toward myself? - The weaker of both, and still the strongest man on Earth: I swear my
goodwill and respect toward all of your kind. I am ready to sign all peace
treaties you want, and I am also prepared to build a royal embassy filled up
with gifts in order to welcome you as you deserve! - ET: This promise could be your best weapon for the time being since
you are actively preparing still better ones. It does not prove anything
concerning your actual goodwill and peaceful intentions toward myself. I propose that you prove it by a true demonstration of non-violence
and unselfishness towards the weakest beings of your own kind. Expressed in plain words, such a test would however give us a tangible
proof of the existence of these advanced observers, thus representing in
itself a form of violence from their part which they would refuse to use. An
extraterrestrial silence is therefore far more eloquent and fair-play. Extraterrestrial
observers could wait for such a demonstration of mankind’s intelligence and
goodwill before allowing any contact to be established. The chess master
keeps silence while waiting for the next move, and the partner has no other
choice than moving to remain in competition! This attitude of non-violence tells us more than it looks at first
sight. It reminds us that peace is impossible to reach if we do not take into
account the existence of the others, even in our intentions. Eventual ET
observers enter quite naturally in the category designed as “others”. Since
we know that they most probably exist, they should be considered as potential
guests entitled to have reserved places in our terrestrial projects. Waiting for a last
guest! Non-violence is already announced in
the very intention. In many countries, there was an old custom establishing
that a cover be added when dressing the table, in view to welcome an eventual
late guest. His place was already reserved. A message of non-violence and
unselfishness was so addressed to all potential visitors. On an individual level, the ET world could globally be described as a
world located outside each of us, a sort of “extra ego” world. If many of us have doubts on the existence of extraterrestrial worlds,
there are also people who doubt of the very existence of the world they are
living in, thinking for instance that the neighbours, the rivers, the trees,
the beasts…do not really exist, but are only pure objects of their own
imagination. If such people could be rather sympathetic from afar, they are less so
when they belong to the category of those who behave as if such abstractions
were true, notably when the existence of others is concerned. In everyday life, we often behave as
if it were so on many occasions. Many of us are used to behave selfishly,
taking little account of the existence of others in our individual projects,
as if we were alone in the world. In our present market and consumer
society, there is very little place left for true communication between men.
Despite all modern means of intellectual and social exchanges (Internet,
mobile phones, etc.), man is incredibly alone. Daily life tends to isolate
each of us from the others, to consider the human being as a simple good with
a market attached to it. Men reduced to goods can then be withdrawn from the
market without further ceremony. The success of everybody in life is
the matter of an individual and single project taking little account of other
projects! Man as Pure Good As a result of world-wide economy and
competition (Wild Globalization), jobs and men are suppressed or moved at
thousands kilometres away, with great hypocrisy and little feeling, as if
people were simple goods. - But men are not suppressed, some would say, they are only called to
find some other job elsewhere. But unfortunately, many of them refuse to
change. Should the economy dictate its jungle
laws to the exigencies of terrestrial and universal life? It is only a
management tool which should be at the service of life, and not the contrary! Could the market laws go so far and still be justified? In the meanwhile, a planetary disaster is going on. The extraterrestrial world is part of
an “extra ego” world for most of us. Making everyone feeling guilty Man’s egoist attitude is generally
presented as a simple lack of attention. Common saying states that everybody
should behave properly so that everything turns alright (a self-evident
truth!). It is furthermore added that it would anyway be impossible to place
a policeman behind each individual conscience, that in this world of free
trade and competition, each of us has to take care of himself and let the
others know that he should be taken into account. In making everyone feeling guilty, the privileged few can impose an
unfair and wild organization of the whole society to the great majority of
mankind. Transformed into a multitude of little individual problems, the
whole social problem thus remains unsolvable. In a poker game where the cards are always distributed by the
strongest, the weakest is hypocritically asked to always tell the truth, so
as to remain forever a loser. Compelled to enter into such a game, the kind lorry driver is thus
quite naturally led to vote against any proposal for rail transportation of
goods, the pacifist worker will never consider the idea of closing the
manufacture where cluster bombs are daily produced, and the executioner
himself would not hear of the abolition of capital punishment. Such positions can indeed be understood as all these people have to
enter into such a savage and animal game in order to survive! But mankind should play another game! A MARKET GOD IN A PREDATORY
GLOBALIZATION Each of us should
of course assert himself in order to live or just survive. But the problem of
general selfishness cannot be solved if it remains at the level of individual
consciousness. Man and intelligence are socially built and a collective
consciousness is required in an advanced civilization willing to
survive. Selfishness leads to self-destruction when it is imposed as a doctrine
to the whole human community by selfish groups or states organized according
to actual models of predation. In a market hunt now extended worldwide, the
privileged few are transformed into greedy predators looking for booties
acquired through more and more subtle ways. They are called to become greedier and greedier consumers and market
fanaticism abhors all forms of public services and uses which are of no
profit to this business. It requires only “connected” consumers, and after
getting hold of most of the water we drink, it will soon appropriate the air
we breathe, and we can be assured that some elegant gadget will finally be
devised to equip man’s nose with an air counter for invoicing purposes. And
so will it be with all human material and intellectual productions and
creations if we do not stop this proliferation of metastases in a generalized
human cancer now in progress all over this planet. Face to this
cancer, the problem of mankind’s survival is stressed by the climatic changes
daily observed and by the rapid exhaustion of most of our natural resources.
If the concept of a sustainable development is often discussed by the
privileged few, their choices are far from indicating such a trend. The wild
market globalization is more and more based on irresponsible and destructive
import/export transfers, the world production following by now a single
motto: the local products are mainly destined to a distant consumption
requiring first much energy and resources for their commercialization and
transport. Bringing little
profit to this international import/export business, local products are
everywhere depreciated and considered as only good for foreigners. Foreign
products are always praised and loan sharking is furthermore used as
“commercial baits” for their acquisition, enslaving by the way individuals
and nations already in need. This import/export trade results inevitably in a
destructive traffic of road, sea and air vehicles which is hypocritically
ignored. If a water leakage is rightly stigmatized as “bad for the planet” at
home, the wooden tongue of market fanaticism has nothing to say face to such
gigantic wastes in terms of energy, natural resources and general
pollution. The welfare of our
planet and of the human species is in fact not good for global business, and
this cannot be openly acknowledged! The lessons of
history are ignored : the trees of the Eastern Island had to be cut to the
last one to carry the big statues of primitive fanaticism to the worship
places, but the god of modern market fanaticism is not less greedy. Like
these primitive men, we are making the choices leading to a self-destruction
of mankind. To the profit of worldwide globalization and market fanaticism,
the land of our exhausted planet is steadily denuded and now largely hardened with lifeless concrete in order to
move our modern statues (our vehicles and goods) to our new worship places
(our consumption centres). How far are we going to continue with this
degradation process? The individual is
called to behave as a manager and in this society of market fanaticism, it is
not only required from him to bring normal profits, but to do better than the
best ones in a mad and predatory run for still better performances. Seen
individually, this attitude of each manager is indeed quite rational since
any other behaviour would condemn him to disappear, as the executioner with
the abolition of capital punishment. Jobs and markets
are to be conquered as actual fortresses or hostile territories, and the
manpower itself (man) is then a market to be exploited as any other.
“Ineluctable” market laws decide in clear conscience that men (with wives and
children) are in excess (overproduction) and that they have to be dumped as
potatoes or tomatoes in the ditches or in front of some state welfare office.
It is a world
triumph of human stupidity, and little account is taken of the means used to
achieve it, and of the harm resulting soon from it. More and more subtle
predatory means are mobilized to this end by the strongest and privileged few
in a permanent aggression! With the devil Kyoto and other shy proposals or
attempts for climate and environmental control! Forests, natural riches, men,
animal species, oceans, climate... everything can be sacrificed to the glory
of the god of the market, a god becoming greedier and greedier with
time. As with any
production of agricultural goods, the old practice of burned and fallow land
can also be used in the man market of world globalization. Whole fields of
human beings (Europe soon?) can be let to vegetate for tens of years, while
other more profitable fields are exploited in the meantime (Asia today,
Africa to-morrow?). But the time of burned and fallow lands will come back
for the present “winners” of this wild game. Such moves can be
programmed to the greatest profit of a small minority of people, and to the
greatest prejudice of mankind as a whole and of terrestrial life too.
Slaughtering and mass murders are mercilessly used for the appropriation of
the last natural riches of mankind, as it is presently the case in the Middle
East and in other parts of the world! Whole nations can be exterminated to
the satisfaction and glory of the god of the market. With this wild globalization of the economy now prevailing all over
the planet, the laws of the strongest and privileged few may authorize all
abuses against the underprivileged. In the last century, mankind was branded
by a First World War (1914-1918) with innumerable slaughters (Verdun, etc.)
and unprecedented organized murders (bombardments of civilians, shooting of
soldiers, etc.). Started mainly to the benefit of industrial interests, the
war gave birth to Nazism and to an anticommunism of no limits. The Second
World War (1939-45) did still better in slaughtering (Shoah with millions of
Jew and other victims, concentration camps, etc.) and exterminations of civil
populations (Oradour, Dresden, etc.). Hiroshima
and Nagasaki The 2nd World War
ended with unprecedented atrocities after an irresponsible use of nuclear
bombs (Hiroshima, Nagasaki) mainly destined to terrorize and humiliate an
already isolated and nearly disarmed enemy, and other potential ones too
(USSR, China). This disproportioned violence was anyway at the origin of a
destructive arm race, and the historical perspective indicates now clearly
that no good has been harvested on this occasion. A sword of
Damocles was instead laid forever by the US nation over the human species
! In the Middle East, it looks as if past holocausts could eventually be
used as models to prepare new local ones. To make forgive their past crimes
against the Jews and the abominable Shoah (millions of victims), the greatest
world powers founded a predatory state (Israel) on territories which were
previously conquered and which could therefore be used for a costless
installation of their local gendarme. A
crowning form of cynicism! In the name of prehistoric and racist laws, a defenceless people (the
Palestinians) is thus expropriated and kept behind walls and barbed wire
fences. Spread over the world and prohibited from home return, confined in
his own country inside ghettoes and concentration camps (Gaza, etc.) in order
to make place and welcome strangers coming from all over the world, strangers
invested for their part with an eternal right for the colonization of a
foreign land (a crowning form of cynicism!). Instead of trying to make peace
and justice within a laic and multiethnic nation including the new settlers
themselves victims of this destabilization, an apartheid system is built and
a merciless man hunt is permanently kept in these lands of miseries and
sufferings. In the greatest hypocrite silence of the main powers : if a
former US president could claim so strongly and so repeatedly at the Berliner
wall that he was a Berliner, there was so far no one to claim, and even to
murmur at all the Palestinian Walls of Shame that he is a Palestinian! And
for the last fifty years, there has been no international army to enforce the
UNO resolutions as far as Israel was concerned. The local gendarme of market
imperialism is thus free to act as he feels. It is now clear that the Berliner claim had nothing to do with the
defence of human rights and freedom, but that it was one of pure
anticommunist propaganda! After a near extermination of the American Indians and a long
cultivation of segregation, the greatest power of our times (the USA) is now
extending its iron grip to the whole planet. Yesterday in the name of
anticommunism and now in the name of antiterrorism, peoples and nations are
daily aggressed and submitted to ruthless jungle laws. Millions of bombs are
left in numerous lands as a result of these aggressions. Embargos are enacted
for futile pretexts (Iraq, Cuba, Nicaragua, etc.), thus killing hundreds
thousands peoples (Iraq, etc.) and even millions of them (Vietnam, South East
Asia, etc.) as a result of savage bombardments, political destabilization and
spreading of toxic products over the population and the environment. Bombs
left behind are still increasing the number of victims after more than thirty
years! Vietnam
: An example of pure barbarism! The Vietnam’s war was one of the most inhuman and pitiless attacks of
a small and defenceless country in all
history! A savage behaviour from the strongest (France first, then the USA)
demonstrating clearly that the hominization process of our species has still
a long way to go! Wars are permanently waged in the name of a so-called struggle of Good
against Evil (Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Korea, etc.) or in the name of a
fallacious defence of freedom (Korea, Vietnam and South-East Asia, Algeria,
Chile, Yougoslavia, etc.). Man hunts and slaughters are organized worldwide
(Iraq, Israel, Lybia, Somalia, Soudan, Afghanistan, Sabra and Chatila, etc.).
Human rights are denied to prisoners and men are daily tortured (Iraq,
Guantanamo, etc.) by mercenaries who give themselves the right to ignore
international laws, laws which are already much obliging to their kind. Nuclear
and military blackmail! In the name of peacekeeping, nuclear blackmail is permanently exerted
(formerly against the USSR, China, Iraq, and now against North Korea, Iran)
by the first nation to use atomic weapons for at least very ambiguous aims,
and still developing such weapons. After having exhausted their adversaries
in a destructive arms race extended over tens of years, those who have always
detained the most massive destruction arms ever produced want furthermore to
increase their blackmail potential by keeping for themselves the exclusivity
of their potential use. Space weapons are now tested and programmed for launch in Earth’s
orbit. In the name of a so-called freedom in exchanges and commerce,
medicaments and care are refused to peoples condemned to death (vaccines,
AIDS, etc.). Whole nations in need are abandoned and still impoverished in
dupe bargains and in the forced production and consumption of goods to the
sole benefit of market imperialism! America : The Use of Words is not
Meaningless “The truth is the kindest thing we
can give folks in the end” (Harriet Beecher Stowe, US abolitionist and
novelist, 1811-1896) The US society gives mankind a living example of how the very notion
of democracy can be left insubstantial and how an imperialist leadership can
turn a nation of kind and gentle individuals (most of US citizens) into a
nation of predators. As often in the case, this imperialist attitude is already announced
in the words used. A US citizen considers for instance as fair to present
himself as an American. But there is no country named America since this is a
continent. All inhabitants of the American continent (Mexicans, Cubans,
Brazilians, Canadians, etc.) are Americans. This appropriation of the word
itself by a single community is already the expression of a will to use
violence and domination toward the others. To be coherent with such a global
claim, a US nationality and passport should be granted to all inhabitants of
the American continent, with the rights attached to it. The Mexican Wall,
another Wall of Shame where more than 1000 people are killed annually (over 3
times more each year than in 28 years on the Berliner Wall!) should therefore
be pulled down! A more common attitude
would however be the adoption of another generic name for all US citizens.
The proper choice belongs of course to them. This is only one example of the US (and other main nations)
imperialist attitude toward the weakest people of the world, a small visible
item in an Everest-like iceberg of intimidations and blackmails. The absence of any international debate on such subjects can also be
used as a standard of measurement of this imperialist pressure all over the
world. These subjects have now become taboos. Brainwashing has reached such
an extent that some people submitted to it do not even question themselves,
as in the times of slavery. They accept it as a normal order of things. Would
those who still question themselves be put soon into psychiatric asylums, as
in the former Soviet Union? If mankind cannot agree on such obvious common notions of right and
freedom, its fate is then truly hopeless! No Good has been sown nor harvested in this imperialist madness of the
main powers behaving themselves as rogue states. After France, the United
Kingdom, Germany and others, the United States is now the world leader of
this predatory Empire. But it has faithful partners (UK, France, Germany,
Spain, Italy, Japan, etc.) and new candidates are now ready to join the
“gang” (Russia, Poland, etc.). The weakest nations are naturally inclined to
imitate the mightiest ones, but the latter are constantly showing bad
examples of behaviour in all domains of life (violence and aggressiveness,
waste of natural resources and environmental pollution, global warming,
brainwashing, culture of obscurantism, selfishness and exploitation of the
weakest, unemployment, etc.). A
Fight Between Good and Evil ? The leaders of the world are now speaking of a struggle between Good
and Evil all over this planet. They may be right, but these notions should
perhaps be redefined. Should we no longer name good what preserves and protects human and
terrestrial life, and evil what threats and destroys it? With this model of society, evil is continuously winning against life
on this planet. It is to the benefit of the privileged few that these human
crimes are perpetrated in this world by a more and more predatory form of
imperialism. Terrorism is first this violence and this plundering of planetary
riches imposed through various means by the strongest to the weakest. If a
true account of the victims could be done, it would probably reach an annual
figure of several millions dead. A
Generalized Cancer of Mankind With this wild world economy led by
the privileged few, all terrestrial forms of life should comply with
standards defined by the god of the market in order to continue to exist. A
god whose greediness never stops growing! Face to a life
which does not stop declining! An infernal world
propaganda of brainwashing has been set up to serve this predatory god.
Considerable intellectual means (in advertising, cinema, audio and TV,
edition, press, public services, education, etc.) are daily consecrated in
view to satisfy a growing greediness of consumption for a minority of the
world population. The privileged few are never fed up and even pretend
hypocritically that everyone can join them in this insatiable madness. New markets of
production and consumption are daily conquered in order to supply the god of
the market with renewed offerings. From the cradle to the grave, man is
continuously soaked with propaganda though the most modern connection means
to society which are now offered (letterbox, radio, TV, portables, press,
Internet, advertising panels, etc.) An international
set language (langue de bois) has been elaborated in order to dissimulate
some of the roughest aspects of reality, a reality made of all sorts of dupe
markets, intimidations and blackmails. This predatory policy is eventually
imposed by an underground net of terror (CIA and other likes) acting
worldwide much like other former criminal bands (Inquisition, Gestapo, KGB,
etc.). Despite all evidence, the general western hypocrisy still pretends for
instance to maintain free competition between small African undertakers lost
in the bushes and Western managers already in orbit around the planet. This
propaganda ignores that Western managers are like extraterrestrials to
African undertakers and that free competition is therefore impossible, as it
would be impossible for man to compete with advanced extraterrestrials! Swindling and
imposture are so hidden behind soothing words. But
despite all soft euphemisms used to name this kind of predatory doctrine
(capitalism, economical liberalism, liberal democracy, free exchange, market
economy, free market, etc.), it is always the law of the strongest and
privileged few which predominates. A brazen law which is inexorably nibbling
at terrestrial life through a cancer now generalized. This cancer is going to
destroy our planetary civilization if we cannot stop a growing proliferation
of metastases. Others
(the extra ego) do not exist in this market world! A growing category of men
is left by the roadside of our planetary civilization, together with
extraterrestrials. They
are in fact non-existent! If we adhere to this attitude of
non-violence and unselfishness required for our survival in the event of a
cohabitation with eventual extraterrestrial beings, we should also agree to
adopt the same attitude in our cohabitation with our fellow-men on this
planet. We should finally realize that a selfish attitude leads mankind to
self destruction, as it is becoming more and more obvious. Another world based
on non-violence and unselfishness is now possible on this planet, with the
participation of all Earth inhabitants. Violence is a
resulting force with different components, among which is selfishness. Selfishness
is indeed an extreme form of violence, as for instance for the man deprived
of his job because of this wild globalization of the economy to the benefit
of the privileged few working as “mafia-like” circles. Social
selfishness led by the privileged few will not allow mankind’s survival ! The
question remains : Is mankind willing to survive? Our former cosmic
rule of survival can then be stated as follows: Cosmic Law of Survival N°1 In any human project, survival
requires the adoption of an attitude of unselfish non-violence toward all
others, including eventual extraterrestrials! A Few Citations of World Economists “The liberalization of all world
exchanges, an official objective of the World Organization of Commerce,
should be considered as unrealizable, as harmful and as undesirable. It is a
gigantic and tragic mystification. The reality is that it is the major cause
of mass unemployment and inequalities which are growing since. (Maurice

in the domain of economy, according to T. Roosevelt: Speaking gently while
holding a big stick! Since Clinton: Speaking loudly while holding a massive

President Clinton). “A growing divide between the haves
and the have-nots have left increasing numbers in the Third World in dire
poverty living on less than a dollar a day. Despite repeated promises of
poverty reduction, the actual number of people living in poverty has actually
increased by almost 100 million. This occurred at the same time that total
world income increased by an average of 2.5 percent annually” … If
globalization has not succeeded in reducing poverty, neither has it succeeded

are living in a magisterial lure, in a world now vanished and still
pretending to perpetuate through artificial policies. Our concepts of work
and unemployment, around which the politics are built (or pretends to be so)
are now quite insubstantial: millions of lives and destinies are destroyed by
this anachronism. But the general imposture still goes on to impose systems
